The labels have been designed for laboratories to overprint patient data, barcodes and 2D codes. The overprint and the label itself is chemically resistant and not susceptible to direct organic solvents such as xylene, ethyl alcohol, isopropanol, methanol, formalin, toluene and acetone. They resist also to exposure to fixatives and stains leaving the label clean and readable.
Labels resistant to chemicals and solvents are used in histological staining. Labels can be immersed in different alcohol mixtures during dehydration, infiltration and tissue deposition in paraffin. They are resistant to the process of removing xylene and toluene from tissue fragments as well as staining and counter-staining with eosin, hematoxylin and other dyes.
Labels resistant to chemicals and solvents are ideal to apply in electronic microscopy. Label formats are matched to microscope slides and tissue cassettes which come in contact with solvents and chemicals. The labels do not need to be coated with additional transparent tape. They can also be stored for many years after being processed in archives.
